Clean bill of health for my son

We went to the doctor for our follow-up checkup the other day and she recommended another set of blood test for my son to determine the glucose and ionized calcium in his blood. She wanted to make sure that my son is not a candidate for endocrine disorders such as diabetes.

Hubby took our son to the hospital’s lab section the following day for his blood test, the result of which came out a few hours later.

I texted the pediatrician the results of the blood test, and thankfully, she said that it is within the normal level just like the result of the first blood exam taken last week.

The pedia said that my son’s food intake may not be sufficient to support his normal growth. He is 12 and stands 5″7, but his food intake is suitable for a young child’s diet.

The medicines that he took for one week had helped him recover from his occasional cough. His vitamins, on the other hand, are responsible for his weight improvement. I guess he gained a pound; he is no longer pale and rarely has dizzy spells.

To speed up his recovery, the pedia advised him to go to bed early, drink milk twice a day and eat protein-rich food. Drinking milk is fine with the kid, but hitting the sack by 9 p.m., well, we’re still working on that department as he has trouble falling asleep at night.

If I can manage to bring my son to a health spa, I will have him undergo massage montréal specifically massotherapy. Massotherapy is a medical or therapeutic treatment by massage. This has been proven effective by experts for the quick recovery from an illness or injury as it helps improve the functions of the muscles, blood, nerve and bones.

For now, he has to spare a few minutes away from the computer or TV set and exercise lest he wants to be sick again.

Use safe Halloween make-up for kids

Are your kids ready for the Halloween? Have you prepared their Halloween invitations and costumes this year?

One of the exciting parts of the Halloween party is the face painting session. The scary look that you want to achieve depends on the creativity and application of make up. However, be careful in using costume make up and store bought face paint kit as it may cause allergy to children. So, instead of commercial make up, you can mix home made face paint using non-toxic ingredient found in your kitchen. This is safe and easy to do.

If you want to achieve aged grey hair and white skin you will need:

1 tsp corn starch
1/2 tsp water
1/2 tsp cold cream
2 drops food coloring as desired

Mix all ingredients together well and apply.

Procedure:

Apply a bit of hair gel or slick conditioner where you want to make grey hair, and then dust on some baby powder. To make a ghostly pale complexion, apply cold cream to skin then carefully dust on pale face powder or baby powder. Be sure to avoid inhaling powder during application – use a small amount of powder and a cotton ball to dab on gently.

Remember to dispose of leftover face paint after you use them.

Play for exercise

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

If your kids are too busy with homework, let them take a moment to play. Play is an important part of kids’ development. You can play checker and other interesting board games with your kid or if he has siblings allow them to play team games. Team games are said to develop honesty and self-discipline.

If kids are playing outside your home, make sure that kids play in safe areas of your house and surroundings.

And if kids can do it (play and rest), adults should do it as well. Rest, even if may sound Martian to some of us moms at home, is advisable after a busy day tending to household chores or performing office work. Errands at home like paying monthly bills or buy life insurance do not take the whole day to accomplish. Allow yourself to rest and be able to have a sound sleep at night.
